A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….
Those were the very first words we saw many years ago in our galaxy far, far away before the opening crawl when the very first Star Wars movie came out, as well as before it was rechristened as Episode IV: A New Hope. And it’s safe to say, that it’s been a fun and exciting trip for not only many fans who took their first step in a larger world like Luke Skywalker and his friends and family before us, but it’s also been an even more fun-filled journey all those years ago for me as well. Even if the franchise has lost its way, but is still trying to recover, thanks to Disney, many people have still their opinions. I, of course, have my own:
- The Original Trilogy is still THE best trilogy of the franchise all around, no questions asked. Their Special Editions were done for the better, other random changes, however? It all depends, from a certain point of view.
- The Prequel Trilogy while a bit rushed, I personally regard them as good if not great as the original three films and later on redeemed in recent years. Plus, I (as well as many others) like ’em better than the Sequel Trilogy any day.
- The Sequel Trilogy will always have negative reception. As personally, I had my own ideas as to what the three new films could have been and the final product that we got was NOTHING like what I had in mind.
- The three spin-off movies were decent and hold-up well, heck, they hold up miles and miles better then the Sequel Trilogy.
That’s not the point I’m trying to make. The point is, that like any other big-name franchise such as Harry Potter, James Bond, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars had its share of ups and downs.
Anyway, it’s time for me to answer a classic question I’m sure I’ll be asked sooner or later by you all… What do I think of all 12 of the Star Wars movies so far and where would I rank them all from worst to best? Well, I can safely say that I’d be more than happy to give all of my answers and let you know where my opinion lies.
If you have to ask, “Why 12?” My answer is simple, people forget more often than not, there is a Clone Wars animated movie from 2008, which IS, in fact, canon; heck, the Star Wars wiki (or Wookieepedia) confirms it.
So, that having been said, let’s get down to business…
12. Star Wars — Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

11. Star Wars — Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Overall rating: 6.4 out of 10 stars.
10. Star Wars — Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Overall rating: 7.7 out of 10 stars.
09. Star Wars — Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Overall rating: 8.0 out of 10 stars.
08. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Overall rating: 8.4 out of 10 stars.
07. Star Wars — Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Overall rating: 8.8 out of 10 stars.
06. Solo: A Star Wars Story
Overall rating: 9.1 out of 10 stars.
05. Star Wars — Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Overall rating: 9.5 out of 10 stars.
04. Star Wars — Episode VI: Return of the Jedi:
