There is no doubt, when we listen to a popular song such as “Red Red Wine” by UB40, I’m sure there are a great many people, who more often than not, occasionally think that it’s the original, believe me when I say, “I exactly know how that feels.”
Here at in this special corner I like to call “Who sang it better?“, I’m going to take a variety of beloved songs that were made years ago such as “Hound Dog” both by Big Mama Thornton and Elvis Presley, then I delve into my personal opinion as to which version is more worth a listen to and why. Sometimes, the original may triumph over the cover and live to be heard another day, other times, there will be times wherein which the cover version is more superior any day.
And as always with all things considered, this is all just strictly a matter of personal opinion and taste, so don’t go AWOL if you disagree with me… it’s my opinion and nothing more. Your feedback may be a little different than mine, but hey, we’re all human here, and there’s nothing we can do except appreciate our differences.
Now for this idea to work, I’ve established two simple rules for this page to work:
- I will NOT be doing every Holiday and Gospel songs, the reason for this is the fact that there are way too many of versions of those songs to count and my thoughts on those songs would take forever. As such, I’d rather not waste my time doing those songs.
- I will not be looking, in any shape or form, to ruin the songs reputation. While I may like one version at the end of the day, the main message for you all to understand is this: there are some versions that are unique no matter what, or that haven’t exactly aged well, if you can believe that.
